During the 2009 National Innovation Council Meeting on 10th November 2008 chaired by the Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi, Minister of MOSTI, Datuk Dr. Maximum Johnity Ongkili has taken a step to announce the exchange of MOUs between MOSTI Agencies and the respective projects recipients.

ATSB® has been appointed as a project coordinator and project management team for Gerbang Maklumat STI. This project is an ICT outreach program from MOSTI to rural communities within Petra Jaya (Sarawak) and also covers Semariang, Satok and Tupong.

The project’s strategic intents are aimed at stimulating local capacities for informed decision-making and enhancement of personal, institutional and community development in the areas of agriculture, youth development and socio-economic progress through one stop applied STI information dissemination and application. It also places youth as partners in community building and development programmes.

The objective of the project is to have an IT/STI literate population among the youth sector of remote and rural population. It provides unlimited opportunities and knowledge base in the areas of   agriculture, ICT and industrial solutions, funding opportunities, youth and ICT for development, S&T awareness, internal and external social communication of the communities.
